The Early Childhood School (ECS) of B’nai Shalom of Olney provides early childhood education for children 18 months- 5 years old. We believe that childhood is time of discovery, connection and joy and strive to create an environment that invites exploration, builds community and welcomes play. We are a part of B’nai Shalom of Olney (BSO), an egalitarian, conservative Jewish congregation located in north-central Montgomery County, Maryland.
The ECS at BSO is seeking lead and assistant teachers for the 2024-25 School year!
At the ECS we:

· Embrace a mindset of lifelong learning and an openness to progressive thinking in the field of early childhood education.
Responsibilities
· Always prioritizing the safety and well-being of children.
· Providing a warm, clean, safe, and engaging environment which empowers children’s independence and reflects the values of our community and the families in your class.
· Maintaining a warm and professional relationship with families and coworkers.
· Engaging with children in play and conversation, encouraging them to share experiences, ideas and feelings and asking open-ended questions throughout the day.
· Using positive guidance to support social interactions and developing emotional skills.
· With the support of the ECS Director, preparing and implementing developmentally appropriate lesson plans that support the program curriculum and growth of the children.
· Observing and recording children’s interests and development throughout the school year.
· Communicating with families on a regular basis
· Being aware of and helping maintain state licensing requirements, including continued learning hours, in partnership with the ECS Director.
· Staff must be physically able to run, get up and down off the floor and lift up to 50 lbs.
Qualifications:
· Lead teachers must have a Bachelor's degree, CDA or 90 hours.
· Minimum 1 year experience in early childhood setting
· Excellent oral and written communication skills
· Reliable and team oriented
· Preferred: Infants & Toddlers certified, experience in Jewish education.
